Matthew grew up in London Ontario and moved to the Niagara region for post-
secondary education. Matthew completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a
minor in philosophy at Brock University. Matthew is currently studying with Yorkville
University to complete a master’s in Counselling Psychology.
After working in research
psychology, he is excited to translate his knowledge into the helping profession.
Matthew uses cognitive-behavioural theories to help inform his approach but is happy to
integrate evidenced-based interventions from various domains. His preferred modalities
include solution-focused, Adlerian, narrative and cognitive-behavioural techniques. He
values a holistic approach to health and wellbeing that focus on gratitude, acceptance,
and self-understanding.
Identifying as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Matthew aims to provide
empathetically informed support to other members of the community. More generally,
his approach to therapy is focused on creating a safe space for exploration and
reflection that cultivates valuable insights to generate change.
